BIT supports organisations in achieving compliance with Latvia’s newly enacted National Cyber Security Law

Following the enactment of the National Cyber Security Law, entering into force on 1 September 2024, Baltijas Informācijas Tehnoloģijas (BIT) is offering a comprehensive service package to help businesses comply with the new minimum cybersecurity requirements – with solutions tailored to each organisation’s specific needs.

The law aims to strengthen the security and resilience of information and communication technologies (ICT) and critical infrastructure. Under the new regulatory framework, all entities falling under its scope must determine their status and register with the National Cyber Security Centre by 1 April 2025. By 1 October 2025, organisations must appoint a cybersecurity manager and submit their first cybersecurity self-assessment report.

According to Mihails Potapovs, Head of EU Cybersecurity Affairs at Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Latvia, before implementing technical and organisational measures, companies should begin by addressing the following key questions:

  • How can we ensure that our ICT infrastructure and information systems meet the new minimum cybersecurity requirements?
  • How should we plan and implement cyber risk management, and how can we ensure business continuity in the event of a crisis?
  • How can we promote cyber hygiene and provide effective cybersecurity training for our staff?

To help businesses navigate the implementation of these changes, BIT offers a full range of services aligned with the National Cyber Security Law and the NIS2 Directive. BIT’s certified experts – with extensive experience in security audits – provide:

  • Support in determining an organisation’s status and completing registration with the National Cyber Security Centre;
  • Cybersecurity manager services to ensure legal compliance;
  • Implementation of minimum cybersecurity requirements and the development of internal policies;
  • Development and testing of cyber risk management and business continuity plans;
  • Monitoring of cybersecurity incidents and vulnerabilities;
  • Other services as required by the National Cyber Security Law and NIS2 Directive.

BIT has extensive experience in the field of cybersecurity, having conducted large-scale security audits that meet the highest industry standards. The company also provides hardware and technical solutions to help meet the latest cybersecurity requirements – delivering full support from assessment to implementation.

By choosing BIT, organisations can rely on certified professionals to ensure their cybersecurity posture is both compliant and robust. BIT’s expertise guarantees clients are protected and aligned with all regulatory obligations.
