HP Store Virtual 4000
In December 2012 HP announce new models of HP P4000 Lefthand storage products. New name of this product line is HP StoreVirtual 4000. HP StoreVirtual 4000 is the most popular storage products for virtualisation.

What’s New?
A few main key features, comparing new HP StoreVirtual 4000 models with previous version (HP P4000 Lefthand):
- Support for 10GigE and 8Gbit FC front-end host connectivity to the StoreVirtual product line.;
- Now adding an extra nodes they comes with 3 years of support by default;
- Less rack mount space (U);
- More cache memory.
HP StoreVirtual 4000 solution advantages:
HP StoreVirtual 4000 HA storage for the virtualisation purposes, with possibility to arrange cost effective disaster recovery (DR) solution, easy to expand using all-in-one ideology.
Redundancy. Hyper-redundant clustered storage with Active/Active controllers. Losing one controller, another one automaticly take all management.
Performance. Controllers works with all of hard drīves and provide load balancing.
Integrated replication for disaster recovery. HP StoreVirtual 4000 HA include integrated replication at no additional cost that simplifies management with simple failover and failback.
Network Raid. Possibility to use all of the storage hard drīves, to achive best of performance characteristics.
Thin Provisioning;
Snapshots. Application Integrated Snapshots for VMware and Windows simplify data protection. Snapshots create thinly provisioned, instant point-in-time copies of data on a per-volume basis. Administrators access snapshots to recover individual files from the volume, or rollback an entire volume.
Multi-site cluster has a single management. Storage Clustering allows a customer to consolidate multiple storage nodes into pools of storage. All available capacity and performance is aggregated and available to every volume in the cluster.
HP StoreVirtual 4000 list price is lower then HP P4000 Lefthand, for example:
- HP P4300 G2 3.6TB SAS Storage System – 12500.EUR + VAT
- HP StoreVirtual 4330 450GB SAS Storage – 9900.00 EUR + VAT
If you need to add more capacity to your existing Lefthand storage, HP StoreVirtual 4000 is completely backward compatible with earlier G2/G1 LeftHand P4000 products. Main requirements – you have to make existing Lefthand storage. You can make it by yourself or buy this service from HP partner. There is no standart price for this service, because it depends on existing customer IT infrastructure. To specify how many hours it takes, we need to investigate it.
